The upgrade of the ALICE TPC with GEMs and continuous readout
J. Adolfsson, M. Ahmed, S. Aiola +232
The upgrade of the ALICE TPC will allow the experiment to cope with the high interaction rates foreseen for the forthcoming Run 3 and Run 4 at the CERN LHC. In this article, we des…
Secondary discharge studies in single and multi GEM structures
A. Deisting, C. Garabatos, P. Gasik +12
Secondary discharges, which consist of the breakdown of a gap near a GEM foil upon a primary discharge across that GEM, are studied in this work. Their main characteristics are the…
Ion mobility measurements in Ar-CO, Ne-CO, and Ne-CO-N mixtures, and the effect of water contents
Alexander Deisting, Chilo Garabatos, Alexander Szabo
A detector has been constructed for measuring ion mobilities of gas mixtures at atmospheric pressure and room temperature. The detector consists of a standard triple GEM amplificat…
Measurements of ion mobility in argon and neon based gas mixtures
Alexander Deisting, Chilo Garabatos, Alexander Szabo +1
As gaseous detectors are operated at high rates of primary ionisation, ions created in the detector have a considerable impact on the performance of the detector. The upgraded ALIC…
