Quasimolecular electronic structure of the spin-liquid candidate BaInIrO
A. Revelli, M. Moretti Sala, G. Monaco +16
The mixed-valent iridate Ba3InIr2O9 has been discussed as a promising candidate for quantum spin-liquid behavior. The compound exhibits Ir ions in face-sharing IrO6 octahe…
Fingerprints of Kitaev physics in the magnetic excitations of honeycomb iridates
A. Revelli, M. Moretti Sala, G. Monaco +11
In the quest for realizations of quantum spin liquids, the exploration of Kitaev materials - spin-orbit entangled Mott insulators with strong bond-directional exchanges - has taken…
Resonant inelastic x-ray incarnation of Young's double-slit experiment
A. Revelli, M. Moretti Sala, G. Monaco +12
Young's archetypal double-slit experiment forms the basis for modern diffraction techniques: the elastic scattering of waves yields an interference pattern that captures the real-s…
Spin-orbit entangled j=1/2 moments in BaCeIrO -- a frustrated fcc quantum magnet
A. Revelli, C. C. Loo, D. Kiese +16
We establish the double perovskite BaCeIrO as a nearly ideal model system for j=1/2 moments, with resonant inelastic x-ray scattering indicating a deviation of less than 1%…
