Mean Rational Approximation for Some Compact Planar Subsets
John B. Conway, Liming Yang
In 1991, J. Thomson obtained celebrated structural results for Later, J. Brennan (2008) generalized Thomson's theorem to when the diameters of the components o…
Mean Rational Approximation for Compact Subsets with Thin Boundaries
John B. Conway, Liming Yang
In 1991, J. Thomson obtained a celebrated decomposition theorem for the closed subspace of spanned by the analytic polynomials, when In 2008, J. B…
Approximation in the mean by rational functions
John B. Conway, Liming Yang
For , a compact subset , and a finite positive measure supported on , denotes the closure in of rational functions w…
On Nontangential Limits and Shift Invariant Subspaces
John R. Akeroyd, John B. Conway, Liming Yang
In 1998, John B. Conway and Liming Yang wrote a paper in which they posed a number of open questions regarding the shift on spaces. A few of these have been completely res…
Some planar isospectral domains
Peter Buser, John Conway, Peter Doyle +1
We give a number of examples of isospectral pairs of plane domains, and a particularly simple method of proving isospectrality. One of our examples is a pair of domains that are no…
