Downward Terrestrial Gamma-ray Flash observed in Winter Thunderstorm
Yuuki Wada, Teruaki Enoto, Kazuhiro Nakazawa +7
During a winter thunderstorm on 2017 November 24, a strong burst of gamma rays with energies up to 10~MeV was detected coincident with a lightning discharge, by scintillation…
Termination of Electron Acceleration in Thundercloud by Intra/Inter-cloud Discharge
Yuuki Wada, Gregory S. Bowers, Teruaki Enoto +12
An on-ground observation program for high energy atmospheric phenomena in winter thunderstorms along Japan Sea has been performed via measurements of gamma-ray radiation, atmospher…
Hardening and termination of long-duration gamma rays detected prior to lightning
H. Tsuchiya, T. Enoto, K. Iwata +10
We report the first observation of 330 MeV prolonged gamma-ray emission that was abruptly terminated by lightning. The gamma-ray detection was made during winter thunderstorms o…
Long-duration gamma-ray emissions from 2007 and 2008 winter thunderstorms
H. Tsuchiya, T. Enoto, S. Yamada +8
The Gamma-Ray Observation of Winter THunderclouds (GROWTH) experiment, consisting of two radiation-detection subsystems, has been operating since 2006 on the premises of Kashiwazak…
