Deep Learning-Based Intra Mode Derivation for Versatile Video Coding
Linwei Zhu, Yun Zhang, Na Li +2
In intra coding, Rate Distortion Optimization (RDO) is performed to achieve the optimal intra mode from a pre-defined candidate list. The optimal intra mode is also required to be…
Distortion-Aware Loop Filtering of Intra 360^o Video Coding with Equirectangular Projection
Pingping Zhang, Xu Wang, Linwei Zhu +3
In this paper, we propose a distortion-aware loop filtering model to improve the performance of intra coding for 360 videos projected via equirectangular projection (ERP) forma…
A Survey on Perceptually Optimized Video Coding
Yun Zhang, Linwei Zhu, Gangyi Jiang +2
To provide users with more realistic visual experiences, videos are developing in the trends of Ultra High Definition (UHD), High Frame Rate (HFR), High Dynamic Range (HDR), Wide C…
Explainable Machine Learning based Transform Coding for High Efficiency Intra Prediction
Na Li, Yun Zhang, C. -C. Jay Kuo
Machine learning techniques provide a chance to explore the coding performance potential of transform. In this work, we propose an explainable transform based intra video coding to…
Subjective Quality Database and Objective Study of Compressed Point Clouds With 6DoF Head-Mounted Display
Xinju Wu, Yun Zhang, Chunling Fan +2
In this paper, we focus on subjective and objective Point Cloud Quality Assessment (PCQA) in an immersive environment and study the effect of geometry and texture attributes in com…
On Energy Compaction of 2D Saab Image Transforms
Na Li, Yongfei Zhang, Yun Zhang +1
The block Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) is commonly used in image and video compression due to its good energy compaction property. The Saab transform was recently proposed as an…
