The abundance of thin dwarf galaxies: a challenge for cosmological simulations
José A. Benavides, Laura V. Sales, Julio F. Navarro +4
We study the prevalence of thin galaxies as a function of stellar mass in the range using data from the GAMA, DESI, ALFALFA, and Nearby…
Disks no more: the morphology of low-mass simulated galaxies in FIREbox
José A. Benavides, Laura V. Sales, Andrew Wetzel +9
We study the morphology of hundreds of simulated central galaxies in the stellar mass range \msun\, from the FIREbox cosmological volume. We demons…
Dark and luminous satellites of LMC-mass galaxies in the FIRE simulations
Ethan D. Jahn, Laura V. Sales, Andrew Wetzel +5
Within CDM, dwarf galaxies like the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) are expected to host numerous dark matter subhalos, several of which should host faint dwarf companions. Recent…
The Proper Motion of Pyxis: the first use of Adaptive Optics in tandem with HST on a faint halo object
Tobias K. Fritz, Sean T. Linden, Paul Zivick +13
We present a proper motion measurement for the halo globular cluster Pyxis, using HST/ACS data as the first epoch, and GeMS/GSAOI Adaptive Optics data as the second, separated by a…
