Re-entry prediction and demisability analysis for the atmospheric disposal of geosynchronous satellites
Mirko Trisolini, Camilla Colombo
The paper presents a re-entry analysis of Geosynchronous Orbit (GSO) satellites on disposal trajectories that enhance the effects of the Earth oblateness and lunisolar perturbation…
Fragmentation model and strewn field estimation for meteoroids entry
Simone Limonta, Mirko Trisolini, Stefan Frey +1
Everyday thousands of meteoroids enter the Earth's atmosphere. The vast majority burn up harmlessly during the descent, but the larger objects survive, occasionally experiencing in…
Propagation and reconstruction of re-entry uncertainties using continuity equation and simplicial interpolation
Mirko Trisolini, Camilla Colombo
This work proposes a continuum-based approach for the propagation of uncertainties in the initial conditions and parameters for the analysis and prediction of spacecraft re-entries…
Constrained optimisation of preliminary spacecraft configurations under the design-for-demise paradigm
Mirko Trisolini, Hugh G. Lewis, Camilla Colombo
In the past few years, the interest towards the implementation of design-for-demise measures has increased steadily. Most mid-sized satellites currently launched and already in orb…
