TALOS (Total Automation of LabVIEW Operations for Science): A framework for autonomous control systems for complex experiments
M. Volponi, J. Zieliński, T. Rauschendorfer +52
Modern physics experiments are frequently very complex, relying on multiple simultaneous events to happen in order to obtain the desired result. The experiment control system plays…
Real-time antiproton annihilation vertexing with sub-micron resolution
M. Berghold, D. Orsucci, F. Guatieri +63
The primary goal of the AEgIS experiment is to precisely measure the free fall of antihydrogen within Earth's gravitational field. To this end, a cold ~50K antihydrogen beam has to…
CIRCUS: an autonomous control system for antimatter, atomic and quantum physics experiments
Marco Volponi, Saiva Huck, Ruggero Caravita +49
A powerful and robust control system is a crucial, often neglected, pillar of any modern, complex physics experiment that requires the management of a multitude of different device…
MoEDAL search in the CMS beam pipe for magnetic monopoles produced via the Schwinger effect
B. Acharya, J. Alexandre, S. C. Behera +64
We report on a search for magnetic monopoles (MMs) produced in ultraperipheral Pb--Pb collisions during Run-1 of the LHC. The beam pipe surrounding the interaction region of the CM…
