Investigating the Pilot Point Ensemble Kalman Filter for geostatistical inversion and data assimilation
Johannes Keller, Harrie-Jan Hendricks Franssen, Wolfgang Nowak
Parameter estimation has a high importance in the geosciences. The ensemble Kalman filter (EnKF) allows parameter estimation for large, time-dependent systems. For large systems, t…
Sensitivity and depth of investigation from Monte Carlo ensemble statistics
Christin Bobe, Johannes Keller, Ellen Van De Vijver
For many geophysical measurements, such as direct current or electromagnetic induction methods, information fades away with depth. This has to be taken into account when interpreti…
Probabilistic One-Dimensional Inversion of Frequency-Domain Electromagnetic Data Using a Kalman Ensemble Generator
Christin Bobe, Ellen Van De Vijver, Johannes Keller +3
Frequency-domain electromagnetic (FDEM) data of the subsurface are determined by electrical conductivity and magnetic susceptibility. We apply a Kalman Ensemble generator (KEG) to…
Comparing seven variants of the Ensemble Kalman Filter: How many synthetic experiments are needed?
Johannes Keller, Harrie-Jan Hendricks Franssen, Gabriele Marquart
The Ensemble Kalman Filter (EnKF) is a popular estimation technique in the geosciences. It is used as a numerical tool for state vector prognosis and parameter estimation. The EnKF…
