Inverse design of functional photonic patches by adjoint optimization coupled to the generalized Mie theory
Yilin Zhu, Yuyao Chen, Sean Gorsky +2
We propose a rigorous approach for the inverse design of functional photonic structures by coupling the adjoint optimization method and the two-dimensional generalized Mie theory (…
Optical rogue waves in multifractal photonic arrays
Fabrizio Sgrignuoli, Yuyao Chen, Sean Gorsky +2
Optical rogue waves are demonstrated in the far-field scattered radiation from photonic arrays designed according to the aperiodic distributions of prime elements in complex quadra…
Control of single quantum emitters in bio-inspired aperiodic nano-photonic devices
Oliver J. Trojak, Sean Gorsky, Connor Murray +6
Enhancing light-matter interactions on a chip is of paramount importance to study nano- and quantum optics effects and to realise integrated devices, for instance, for classical an…
Observation of multifractality of light in prime number arrays
Fabrizio Sgrignuoli, Sean Gorsky, Wesley Britton +3
Many natural patterns and shapes, such as meandering coastlines, clouds, or turbulent flows, exhibit a characteristic complexity mathematically described by fractal geometry. In re…
