The Apertif Radio Transient System (ARTS): Design, Commissioning, Data Release, and Detection of the first 5 Fast Radio Bursts
Joeri van Leeuwen, Eric Kooistra, Leon Oostrum +49
Fast Radio Bursts must be powered by uniquely energetic emission mechanisms. This requirement has eliminated a number of possible source types, but several remain. Identifying the…
Chromatic periodic activity down to 120 MHz in a Fast Radio Burst
Inés Pastor-Marazuela, Liam Connor, Joeri van Leeuwen +34
Fast radio bursts (FRBs) are extragalactic astrophysical transients whose brightness requires emitters that are highly energetic, yet compact enough to produce the short, milliseco…
A bright, high rotation-measure FRB that skewers the M33 halo
Liam Connor, Joeri van Leeuwen, L. C. Oostrum +37
We report the detection of a bright fast radio burst, FRB\,191108, with Apertif on the Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope (WSRT). The interferometer allows us to localise the FRB…
Repeating fast radio bursts with WSRT/Apertif
L. C. Oostrum, Y. Maan, J. van Leeuwen +40
Repeating fast radio bursts (FRBs) present excellent opportunities to identify FRB progenitors and host environments, as well as decipher the underlying emission mechanism. Detaile…
