Asteroseismic detection of a predominantly toroidal magnetic field in the deep interior of the main-sequence F star KIC 9244992
Masao Takata, Simon J. Murphy, Donald W. Kurtz +2
An asteroseismic analysis has revealed a magnetic field in the deep interior of a slowly-rotating main-sequence F star KIC9244992, which was observed by the Kepler spacecraft for f…
HD 60435: The star that stopped pulsating
Donald W. Kurtz, Gerald Handler, Daniel L. Holdsworth +10
HD 60435 is a well-known rapidly oscillating (roAp) Ap star with a series of alternating even and odd degree modes, making it a prime asteroseismic target. It is also an oblique pu…
HD 12098: a highly distorted dipole mode in an obliquely pulsating roAp star
D. W. Kurtz, H. Saio, D. L. Holdsworth +2
HD 12098 is an roAp star pulsating in the most distorted dipole mode yet observed in this class of star. Using TESS Sector 58 observations we show that there are photometric spots…
Tidally Trapped Pulsations in a close binary star system discovered by TESS
G. Handler, D. W. Kurtz, S. A. Rappaport +12
It has long been suspected that tidal forces in close binary stars could modify the orientation of the pulsation axis of the constituent stars. Such stars have been searched for, b…
