Quasi-Biennial Oscillations and Rieger-type Periodicities in a Babcock-Leighton Solar Dynamo
Pawan Kumar, Belur Ravindra, Partha Chowdhury +1
The Sun's magnetic field shows the 11-year solar cycle and shorter periodicities, popularly known as the quasi-biennial oscillations (QBOs) and Rieger-type periods, or ``season of…
Evolution of Photospheric Magnetic Field and Electric Currents during the X1.6 Flare in Active Region NOAA 12192
Partha Chowdhury, Belur Ravindra, Sanjiv Kumar Tiwari
The dynamics of magnetic fields in the Sun's active regions plays a key role in triggering solar eruptions. Studies have shown that changes in the photosphere's magnetic field can…
Helioseismic Investigation of Quasi-biennial Oscillation Source Regions
Kiran Jain, Partha Chowdhury, Sushanta C. Tripathy
We studied the temporal evolution of quasi-biennial oscillations (QBOs) using acoustic mode oscillation frequencies from the Global Oscillation Network Group. The data used here sp…
Distinguishing between Flaring and Non-Flaring Active Regions: A Machine Learning Perspective
Soumitra Hazra, Gopal Sardar, Partha Choudhuri
Large scale solar eruptions significantly impact space weather and damages space-based human infrastructures. It is necessary to predict large scale solar eruptions, which will ena…
