Amusing Permutation Representations of Group Extensions
Yongju Bae, J. Scott Carter, Byeorhi Kim
Semi-direct products of finite groups have permutation representations that are constructed from the permutation representations of their constituents. One can envision these in a…
Non-orientable surfaces in 4-dimensional space
Yongju Bae, J. Scott Carter, Seonmi Choi +1
This article is a survey article that gives detailed constructions and illustrations of some of the standard examples of non-orientable surfaces that are embedded and immersed in 4…
Coloring link diagrams by Alexander quandles
Yongju Bae
In this paper, we study the colorability of link diagrams by the Alexander quandles. We show that if the reduced Alexander polynomial is vanishing, then admits a non…
Basket, flat plumbing and flat plumbing basket numbers of links
Yongju Bae, Dongseok Kim, Chan-Young Park
We define the basket number, the flat plumbing number and the flat plumbing basket number of a link. Then we provide some upperbounds for these plumbing numbers by using Seifert's…
The spread and extreme terms of Jones polynomials
Yongju Bae, H. R. Morton
We adapt Thistlethwaite's alternating tangle decomposition of a knot diagram to identify the potential extreme terms in its bracket polynomial, and give a simple combinatorial calc…
