Speckle correlation as a monitor of X-ray free electron laser induced crystal lattice deformation
Rajan Plumley, Yanwen Sun, Samuel W Teitelbaum +8
X-ray free electron lasers (X-FELs) present new opportunities to study ultrafast lattice dynamics in complex materials. While the unprecedented source brilliance enables high fidel…
Femtosecond laser produced periodic plasma in a colloidal crystal probed by XFEL radiation
Nastasia Mukharamova, Sergey Lazarev, Janne-Mieke Meijer +20
With the rapid development of short-pulse intense laser sources, studies of matter under extreme irradiation conditions enter further unexplored regimes. In addition, an applicatio…
Measurements of Nonequilibrium Interatomic Forces in Photoexcited Bismuth
Samuel W. Teitelbaum, Thomas C. Henighan, Hanzhe Liu +11
We determine experimentally the excited-state interatomic forces in photoexcited bismuth. The forces are obtained by a constrained least-squares fit of the excited-state dispersion…
Scientific Opportunities with an X-ray Free-Electron Laser Oscillator
Bernhard Adams, Gabriel Aeppli, Thomas Allison +47
An X-ray free-electron laser oscillator (XFELO) is a new type of hard X-ray source that would produce fully coherent pulses with meV bandwidth and stable intensity. The XFELO compl…
