A probabilistic approach to phase calibration: I. Effects of source structure on fringe-fitting
Iniyan Natarajan, Roger Deane, Ilse van Bemmel +6
We propose a probabilistic framework for performing simultaneous estimation of source structure and fringe-fitting parameters in Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) observatio…
Resolving the blazar CGRaBS J0809+5341 in the presence of telescope systematics
Iniyan Natarajan, Zsolt Paragi, Jonathan Zwart +3
We analyse Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) observations of the blazar CGRaBS J0809+5341 using Bayesian inference methods. The observation was carried out at 5 GHz using 8…
Bayesian Inference for Radio Observations - Going beyond deconvolution
Michelle Lochner, Bruce A. Bassett, Martin Kunz +4
Radio interferometers suffer from the problem of missing information in their data, due to the gaps between the antennas. This results in artifacts, such as bright rings around sou…
Bayesian Inference for Radio Observations
Michelle Lochner, Iniyan Natarajan, Jonathan T. L. Zwart +4
New telescopes like the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) will push into a new sensitivity regime and expose systematics, such as direction-dependent effects, that could previously be i…
