Mineral dust increases the habitability of terrestrial planets but confounds biomarker detection
Ian A. Boutle, Manoj Joshi, F. Hugo Lambert +5
Identification of habitable planets beyond our solar system is a key goal of current and future space missions. Yet habitability depends not only on the stellar irradiance, but equ…
Implications of different stellar spectra for the climate of tidally-locked Earth-like exoplanets
Jake K. Eager, David J. Reichelt, Nathan J. Mayne +7
The majority of potentially habitable exoplanets detected orbit stars cooler than the Sun, and therefore are irradiated by a stellar spectrum peaking at longer wavelengths than tha…
Atmospheric convection plays a key role in the climate of tidally-locked terrestrial exoplanets: insights from high-resolution simulations
Denis E. Sergeev, F. Hugo Lambert, Nathan J. Mayne +3
Using a 3D general circulation model (GCM), we investigate the sensitivity of the climate of tidally-locked Earth-like exoplanets, Trappist-1e and Proxima Centauri b, to the choice…
TRAPPIST-1 Habitable Atmosphere Intercomparison (THAI). Motivations and protocol version 1.0
Thomas J. Fauchez, Martin Turbet, Eric T. Wolf +10
Upcoming telescopes such as the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), or the Extremely Large Telescope (ELTs), may soon be able to characterize, through transmission, emission or refl…
