Light-Curve Structure and Halpha Line Formation in the Tidal Disruption Event AT 2019azh
Sara Faris, Iair Arcavi, Lydia Makrygianni +33
AT 2019azh is a H+He tidal disruption event (TDE) with one of the most extensive ultraviolet and optical data sets available to date. We present our photometric and spectroscopic o…
Delayed X-ray brightening accompanied by variable ionized absorption following a tidal disruption event
T. Wevers, M. Guolo, D. R. Pasham +4
Supermassive black holes can experience super-Eddington peak mass fallback rates following the tidal disruption of a star. The theoretical expectation is that part of the infalling…
Low-energy Explosions in a Gravitational Field: Implications for Sub-energetic Supernovae and Fast X-ray Transients
Daniel A. Paradiso, Eric R. Coughlin, Jonathan Zrake +1
Observations and theory suggest that core-collapse supernovae can span a range of explosion energies, and when sub-energetic, the shockwave initiating the explosion can decelerate…
X-ray eruptions every 22 days from the nucleus of a nearby galaxy
Muryel Guolo, Dheeraj R. Pasham, Michal Zajaček +15
Galactic nuclei showing recurrent phases of activity and quiescence have recently been discovered, with recurrence times as short as a few hours to a day -- known as quasi-periodic…
