It has been over 24 years since the iconic Crab Nebula has been visited by the high spatial resolution eye of the Hubble Space Telescope. The expanding nebula is dynamic on these t…
The Optical Evolution of the Tycho Supernova Remnant over Three Decades
P. Frank Winkler, Joseph Putko, William P. Blair
We report a series of images of the Tycho supernova remnant at eight epochs extending over thirty years: 1986-2016. In addition to our Hα images, we have obtained matched continuum…
Chandra Large Project Observations of the Supernova Remnant N132D: Measuring the Expansion of the Forward Shock
Xi Long, Paul P. Plucinsky, Terrance J. Gaetz +15
We present results from the Chandra X-ray Observatory Large Project (878 ks in 28 observations) of the Large Magellanic Cloud supernova remnant N132D. We measure the expansion of t…
Optimizing Convolution Direction and Template Selection for Difference Image Analysis
Rodrigo Angulo, Armin Rest, William P. Blair +8
Difference image analysis (DIA) is a powerful tool for studying time-variable phenomena, and has been used by many time-domain surveys. Most DIA algorithms involve matching the spa…
