The impact of atmospheric dispersion in the performance of high-resolution spectrographs
Bachar Wehbe, Alexandre Cabral, Jorge Martins +3
Differential atmospheric dispersion is a wavelength-dependent effect introduced by the atmosphere. It is one of the instrumental errors that can affect the position of the target a…
The development of an optical design tool for atmospheric dispersion correction
Bachar Wehbe, Alexandre Cabral, Gerardo Avila
In ground based astronomical observations, atmospheric dispersion shifts the image of the object at different wavelengths due to the wavelength-dependent index of refraction of the…
Atmospheric dispersion correction: model requirements and impact on radial velocity measurements
Bachar Wehbe, Alexandre Cabral, Pedro Figueira +1
Observations with ground-based telescopes are affected by differential atmospheric dispersion when seen at a zenith angle different from zero, a consequence of the wavelength-depen…
Rotational and rotational-vibrational Raman spectroscopy of air to characterize astronomical spectrographs
F. P. A. Vogt, F. Kerber, A. Mehner +14
Raman scattering enables unforeseen uses for the laser guide-star system of the Very Large Telescope. Here, we present the observation of one up-link sodium laser beam acquired wit…
