Investigating the clumpy star formation in an interacting dwarf irregular galaxy
Augusto E. Lassen, Ana L. Chies-Santos, Rogerio Riffel +9
Clumpy morphologies are more frequent in distant and low-mass star-forming galaxies. Therefore the less numerous nearby galaxies presenting kpc-sized clumps represent unique labora…
What goes around comes around: the fate of stars in stripped tails of gas
Nina Akerman, Stephanie Tonnesen, Bianca M. Poggianti +5
We conduct high-resolution wind-tunnel simulations to study in-situ star formation in the stripped tails of two massive () galaxies undergoing time-ev…
Stripped and Enriched: The Role of Ram-Pressure in Shaping Chemical Enrichment of Galaxies at Intermediate Redshift
Amir H. Khoram, Bianca Poggianti, Alessia Moretti +11
The chemical evolution of galaxies is shaped by their star formation histories and the exchange of gas with their environments. Metallicity provides key insights into these process…
Clump formation in ram-pressure stripped galaxies: evidence from mass function
Eric Giunchi, Claudia Scarlata, Ariel Werle +8
The mass function (MF) of young ( Myr) stellar clumps is an indicator of the mechanism driving the collapse of the interstellar medium (ISM) into giant mo…
