Dynamical detection of a companion driving a spiral arm in a protoplanetary disk
Chen Xie, Bin B. Ren, Ruobing Dong +6
Radio and near-infrared observations have observed dozens of protoplanetary disks that host spiral arm features. Numerical simulations have shown that companions may excite spiral…
A faint companion around CrA-9: protoplanet or obscured binary?
V. Christiaens, M. -G. Ubeira-Gabellini, H. Cánovas +16
Understanding how giant planets form requires observational input from directly imaged protoplanets. We used VLT/NACO and VLT/SPHERE to search for companions in the transition disc…
On the cavity size in circumbinary discs
Kieran Hirsh, Daniel J Price, Jean-François Gonzalez +2
How does the cavity size in circumbinary discs depend on disc and binary properties? We investigate by simulating disc cavities carved by binary companions using smoothed particle…
Discovery of a low-mass companion embedded in the disk of the young massive star MWC 297 with VLT/SPHERE
M. Giulia Ubeira-Gabellini, Valentin Christiaens, Giuseppe Lodato +4
We report the discovery of a low-mass stellar companion around the young Herbig Be star MWC 297. We performed multi-epoch high-contrast imaging in the near infrared (NIR) with the…
