The Sun's Alfven Surface: Recent Insights and Prospects for the Polarimeter to Unify the Corona and Heliosphere (PUNCH)
Steven R. Cranmer, Rohit Chhiber, Chris R. Gilly +7
The solar wind is the extension of the Sun's hot and ionized corona, and it exists in a state of continuous expansion into interplanetary space. The radial distance at which the wi…
Small Platforms, High Return: The Need to Enhance Investment in Small Satellites for Focused Science, Career Development, and Improved Equity
James Paul Mason, Robert G. Begbie, Maitland Bowen +33
In the next decade, there is an opportunity for very high return on investment of relatively small budgets by elevating the priority of smallsat funding in heliophysics. We've lear…
Improving Multi-Dimensional Data Formats, Access, and Assimilation Tools for the Twenty-First Century
Daniel B. Seaton, Amir Caspi, Roberto Casini +12
Heliophysics image data largely relies on a forty-year-old ecosystem built on the venerable Flexible Image Transport System (FITS) data standard. While many in situ measurements us…
Radio Studies of the Middle Corona: Current State and New Prospects in the Next Decade
Bin Chen, Jason E. Kooi, David B. Wexler +13
The "middle corona," defined by West et al. (2022) as the region between ~1.5-6 solar radii, is a critical transition region that connects the highly structured lower corona to the…
