X-ray Insights Into Interpreting CIV Blueshifts and Optical/UV Continua
S. C. Gallagher, G. T. Richards, P. B. Hall +3
We present 0.5-8.0 keV Chandra observations of six bright quasars that represent extrema in quasar emission-line properties -- three quasars each with small and large blueshifts of…
A Survey of z>5.7 Quasars in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey III: Discovery of Five Additional Quasars
Xiaohui Fan, Joseph F. Hennawi, Gordon T. Richards +11
We present the discovery of five new quasars at z>5.7, selected from the multicolor imaging data of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS). Three of them, at redshifts 5.93, 6.07, and…
Long-term spectral changes in the partial-covering candidate NLS1 1H 0707-495
L. C. Gallo, Y. Tanaka, Th. Boller +3
We compare two XMM-Newton observations of the Narrow-Line Seyfert 1 galaxy 1H 0707-495 separated by two years, and discuss the results in terms of the partial-covering phenomenon.…
Far Ultraviolet Spectroscopic Explorer Spectroscopy of Absorption and Emission Lines from the Narrow-Line Seyfert 1 Galaxy NGC 4051
Shai Kaspi, W. N. Brandt, M. J. Collinge +2
We present three Far Ultraviolet Spectroscopic Explorer (FUSE) observations of the Narrow-Line Seyfert 1 galaxy NGC4051. The most prominent features in the far-ultraviolet (FUV) sp…
