Abundances in giant stars of the globular cluster NGC 6752
David Yong, Frank Grundahl, Poul Erik Nissen +2
Recent theoretical yields and chemical evolution models demonstrate that intermediate-mass AGB stars cannot reproduce the observed abundance distributions of O, Na, Mg, and Al. As…
The R Coronae Borealis stars - carbon abundances from forbidden carbon lines
Gajendra Pandey, David L. Lambert, N. Kameswara Rao +3
Spectra of several R Coronae Borealis (RCB) stars at maximum light were examined for the [C I] 9850 A and 8727 A absorption lines. The 9850 A line is variously blended with a Fe II…
Search For Oxygen in Cool DQ White Dwarf Atmospheres
M. Kilic, D. E. Winget, T. von Hippel +2
We report new infrared spectroscopic observations of cool DQ white dwarfs by using Coolspec on the 2.7m Harlan-Smith Telescope. DQs have helium-rich atmospheres with traces of mole…
(Teff, log g,[Fe/H]) Classification of Low-Resolution Stellar Spectra using Artificial Neural Networks
Shawn Snider, Yuan Qu, Carlos Allende Prieto +4
New generation large-aperture telescopes, multi-object spectrographs, and large format detectors are making it possible to acquire very large samples of stellar spectra rapidly. In…
