The Enigma of Lithium: from CP Stars to K Giants. First Results of CP Star Observations Obtained at Mount Stromlo Observatory
N. S. Polosukhina, N. A. Drake, M. Hack +3
We present the results of the observations of some roAp stars made at Mount Stromlo Observatory during 17 nights in 2001 September-October. This long observing run permitted us to…
X-Ray Wakes in Abell 160
Nick Drake, Michael R. Merrifield, Irini Sakelliou +1
`Wakes' of X-ray emission have now been detected trailing behind a few (at least seven) elliptical galaxies in clusters. To quantify how widespread this phenomenon is, and what its…
Recovery of 29-s Oscillations in HST/FOS Eclipse Observations of the Cataclysmic Variable UX Ursae Majoris
C. Knigge, N. Drake, K. S. Long +3
[abridged abstract] Low amplitude (~=0.5%) 29-s oscillations have been detected in HST/FOS eclipse observations of the nova-like cataclysmic variable UX UMa. These are the same dwa…
On a Rapid Lithium Enrichment and Depletion of K Giant Stars
R. de la Reza, N. A. Drake, L. da Silva +2
A model scenario has recently been introduced to explain the presence of very strong Li lines in the spectra of some low mass K giant stars (de la Reza et al. 1996). In this scenar…
