The Iron Line Profile from Warped Black Hole Accretion Disks
Quincy Abarr, Henric Krawczynski
The profile of the fluorescent iron line from black hole accretion disks is a powerful diagnostic of black hole properties, such as spin and inclination. The state-of-the-art, howe…
Observations of a GX 301-2 Apastron Flare with the X-Calibur Hard X-Ray Polarimeter Supported by NICER, the Swift XRT and BAT, and Fermi GBM
Q. Abarr, M. Baring, B. Beheshtipour +28
The accretion-powered X-ray pulsar GX 301-2 was observed with the balloon-borne X-Calibur hard X-ray polarimeter during late December 2018, with contiguous observations by the NICE…
The Polarization of X-rays from Warped Black Hole Accretion Disks
Quincy Abarr, Henric Krawczynski
It is commonly assumed that in black hole accretion disks the angular momenta of the disk and the black hole are aligned. However, for a significant fraction of stellar mass black…
Astro2020 Science White Paper: Using X-Ray Polarimetry to Probe the Physics of Black Holes and Neutron Stars
Henric Krawczynski, Giorgio Matt, Adam R. Ingram +54
This white paper highlights compact object and fundamental physics science opportunities afforded by high-throughput broadband (0.1-60 keV) X-ray polarization observations. X-ray p…
