End-to-end ground calibration and in-flight performance of the FIREBall-2 instrument
Vincent Picouet, Bruno Milliard, Gillian Kyne +18
The payload of the Faint Intergalactic Redshifted Emission Balloon (FIREBall-2), the second generation of the FIREBall instrument (PI: C. Martin, Caltech), has been calibrated and…
FIREBall-2: The Faint Intergalactic Medium Redshifted Emission Balloon Telescope
Erika Hamden, D. Christopher Martin, Bruno Milliard +31
The Faint Intergalactic Medium Redshifted Emission Balloon (FIREBall) is a mission designed to observe faint emission from the circumgalactic medium of moderate redshift (z~0.7) ga…
FIREBall-2: advancing TRL while doing proof-of-concept astrophysics on a suborbital platform
Erika T. Hamden, Keri Hoadley, D. Christopher Martin +32
Here we discuss advances in UV technology over the last decade, with an emphasis on photon counting, low noise, high efficiency detectors in sub-orbital programs. We focus on the u…
PILOT: a balloon-borne experiment to measure the polarized FIR emission of dust grains in the interstellar medium
R. Misawa, J-Ph. Bernard, P. Ade +26
Future cosmology space missions will concentrate on measuring the polarization of the Cosmic Microwave Background, which potentially carries invaluable information about the earlie…
