The MACHO Project Large Magellanic Cloud Variable Star Inventory. VIII. The Recent Star Formation History of the LMC from the Cepheid Period Distribution
C. Alcock, R. A. Allsman, D. R. Alves +20
We present an analysis of the period distribution of Cepheids in the Large Magellanic Cloud, based on data obtained by the MACHO microlensing experiment and on a previo…

The MACHO Project LMC Variable Star Inventory. VI. The Second-overtone Mode of Cepheid Pulsation From First/Second Overtone (FO/SO) Beat Cepheids
The MACHO Collaboration, C. Alcock, R. A. Allsman +19
MACHO Project photometry of 45 LMC FO/SO beat Cepheids which pulsate in the first and second overtone (FO and SOo, respectively) has been analysed to determine the lightcurve chara…
The Blazhko Effect in RR Lyrae stars: Strong observational support for the oblique pulsator model in three stars
The MACHO Collaboration, C. Alcock, D. R. Alves +17
Using the novel data set of the MACHO project, we show that three ``Blazhko Effect'' RR Lyrae stars show nearly-pure amplitude modulation of a single pulsation mode. This is strong…
