X-ray stellar feedback in low-metallicity starbursts: Insights from the template starburst galaxy ESO 338-IG04 and its halo
M. Chatzis, L. M. Oskinova, S. Reyero Serantes +7
The X-ray output of low-metallicity starburst galaxies is a key component of stellar feedback, tracing the processes responsible for gas ionization and chemical enrichment. The int…
Extremely iron-poor O-type stars in the Magellanic Bridge
E. C. Schösser, V. Ramachandran, A. A. C. Sander +7
To study stars analogous to those in the early Universe with redshift z > 3, we need to probe environments with low metallicities. Until recently, massive O-type stars with metalli…
2020 Vision: Towards a Sustainable OIR System
Sally Oey, Tom Maccarone, Fred Walter +16
Open-access telescopes of all apertures are needed to operate a competitive and efficient national science program. While larger facilities contribute light-gathering power and ang…
The Extreme Outer Regions of Disk Galaxies: I. Chemical Abundances of HII Regions
Annette M. N. Ferguson, Jay Gallagher, Rosemary F. G. Wyse
We present the first results of an ongoing project to investigate the present-day chemical abundances of the extreme outer parts of galactic disks, as probed by the emission line s…
