Mysterious Coherence in Several-Megaparsec Scales Between Galaxy Rotation and Neighbor Motion
Joon Hyeop Lee, Mina Pak, Hyunmi Song +3
In our recent report, observational evidence supports that the rotational direction of a galaxy tends to be coherent with the average motion of its nearby neighbors within 1 Mpc. W…
Impact of Galaxy Mergers on the Colours of Cluster Galaxies
Sree Oh, Keunho Kim, Joon Hyeop Lee +9
We examine the ultraviolet and optical colours of 906 cluster galaxies from the KASI-Yonsei Deep Imaging Survey of Clusters (KYDISC). Galaxies have been divided into two categories…
Stellar populations of nine passive spiral galaxies from the CALIFA survey: are they progenitors of S0s?
Mina Pak, Joon Hyeop Lee, Hyunjin Jeong +3
We investigate the stellar population properties of passive spiral galaxies in the CALIFA survey. Nine spiral galaxies that have NUV-r > 5 and no/weak nebular emission lines in the…
Galaxy Rotation Coherent with the Motions of Neighbors: Discovery of Observational Evidence
Joon Hyeop Lee, Mina Pak, Hye-Ran Lee +1
We present our discovery of observational evidence for the coherence between galaxy rotation and the average line-of-sight motion of neighbors. We use the Calar Alto Legacy Integra…
