Some Effects of Galaxy Collisions in a Cluster ICM
Curtis Struck, Jason R. Brown
We present preliminary results of numerical modeling of the combined effects of ICM stripping and galaxy collisions on galaxies in clusters. We use the Hydra adaptive mesh, P3M + S…
Case Studies of Mass Transfer and Star Formation in Galaxy Collisions
Curtis Struck
The amount, timing and ultimate location of mass transfer and induced star formation in galaxy collisions are sensitive functions of orbital and galaxy structural parameters. I dis…
Continuous and Burst-like Accretion onto Substellar Companions in Mira Winds
Curtis Struck, Babak E. Cohanim, Lee Anne Willson
We present numerical hydrodynamical modeling of the effects of a giant planet or brown dwarf companion orbiting within the extended atmosphere and wind formation zone of an approxi…
Models of the Morphology, Kinematics, and Star Formation History of the Prototypical Collisional Starburst System: NGC 7714/7715 = Arp 284
Curtis Struck, Beverly J. Smith
(abridged) We present new N-body, hydrodynamical simulations of the interaction between the starburst galaxy NGC 7714 and its post-starburst companion NGC 7715, focusing on the for…
