Stellar tidal streams around nearby spiral galaxies with deep imaging from amateur telescopes
David Martinez-Delgado, Michael Stein, Joanna D. Sakowska +26
Tidal interactions between massive galaxies and their satellites are fundamental processes in a Universe with L-Cold Dark Matter cosmology, redistributing material into faint featu…
Extended Red Emission in IC59 and IC63
Thomas S. -Y. Lai, Adolf N. Witt, Ken Crawford
We analysed new wide-field, wide- and narrow-band optical images of IC 59 and IC 63, two nebulae which are externally illuminated by the early B-star γ Cas, with the objective of m…
DGSAT: Dwarf Galaxy Survey with Amateur Telescopes I. Discovery of low surface brightness systems around nearby spiral galaxies
B. Javanmardi, D. Martinez-Delgado, P. Kroupa +7
Context: We introduce the Dwarf Galaxy Survey with Amateur Telescopes (DGSAT) project and report the discovery of eleven low surface brightness (LSB) galaxies in the fields of the…
The formation of shell galaxies similar to NGC 7600 in the cold dark matter cosmogony
Andrew P. Cooper, David Martinez-Delgado, John Helly +6
We present new deep observations of 'shell' structures in the halo of the nearby elliptical galaxy NGC 7600, alongside a movie of galaxy formation in a cold dark matter universe (a…
