Ejecta Evolution Following a Planned Impact into an Asteroid: The First Five Weeks
Theodore Kareta, Cristina Thomas, Jian-Yang Li +85
The impact of the DART spacecraft into Dimorphos, moon of the asteroid Didymos, changed Dimorphos' orbit substantially, largely from the ejection of material. We present results fr…
Characterization of the ejecta from NASA/DART impact on Dimorphos: observations and Monte Carlo models
Fernando Moreno, Adriano Campo Bagatin, Gonzalo Tancredi +26
The NASA/DART (Double Asteroid Redirection Test) spacecraft successfully crashed on Dimorphos, the secondary component of the binary (65803) Didymos system. Following the impact, a…
ALMA Observations of the DART Impact: Characterizing the Ejecta at Sub-Millimeter Wavelengths
Nathan X. Roth, Stefanie N. Milam, Anthony J. Remijan +12
We report observations of the Didymos-Dimorphos binary asteroid system using the Atacama Large Millimeter/Submillimeter Array (ALMA) and the Atacama Compact Array (ACA) in support…
Ejecta from the DART-produced active asteroid Dimorphos
Jian-Yang Li, Masatoshi Hirabayashi, Tony L. Farnham +61
Some active asteroids have been proposed to be the result of impact events. Because active asteroids are generally discovered serendipitously only after their tail formation, the p…
