Abstract
An analysis of the RR-interval time series, , is presented for the case in which the average time, , changes slowly. In particular, and a short-time scale variability parameter, , are simultaneously measured while decreases for subjects in the reclined position. The initial decrease in is usually linear with yielding parameters that can be related to physiological quantities.
