Abstract

Let be a quadratic form associated with a Schrödinger operator on a domain . If is nonnegative on , then either there is such that for all , or there is a sequence and a function satisfying such that , locally uniformly in . This dichotomy is equivalent to the dichotomy between being subcritical resp. critical in . In the latter case, one has an inequality of Poincaré type: there exists such that for every satisfying there exists a constant such that for all .
