Abstract

We discuss the virtual Compton scattering reaction $e^{-} p \to e^{-} p I^^{3}$ at low energies. We present results for the generalized polarizabilities of the nucleon obtained in heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory at $O (p^{3})$ .
