NUFACT'03: The Fate of the Clones

Abstract

We present a Neutrino-Factory-based setup with three detectors of different kind in principle capable to solve the eightfold-degeneracy in the simultaneous measurement of $\hat{I}{¸}_{13}$ and $\hat{I}´$, for $\hat{I}{¸}_{13}\ge 1^{\circ }({\sin }^2(2\hat{I}{¸}_{13})\ge 10^{-3})$. Our setup includes a Superbeam-driven water Cherenkov (the Superbeam conceived as the first stage of the Neutrino Factory); two muon-storage-ring-driven detectors (namely, a large magnetized iron calorimeter and an emulsion cloud chamber) to take advantage of both the so-called "golden" ($\hat{I}{½}_e\to \hat{I}{½}_{\hat{I}}¼$) and "silver" ($\hat{I}{½}_e\to \hat{I}{½}_{\ddot{I}}„$) channels.
