Abstract

In the context of the standard electroweak model, we emphasize that $B_{d} \to D_{C P}^{0} K_{S}$ ( $D_{C P}^{0}$ denotes a $C P$ eigenstate of $D^{0}$ or $D ˉ^{0}$ ) can compete with $B_{d} \to π^{+} π^{-}$ in studying $C P$ violation and probing the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa unitarity triangle. We discuss the measurables of direct and indirect $C P$ asymmetries in $B_{d}^{0}$ vs $B ˉ_{d}^{0} \to D_{C P}^{0} K_{S}$ under the circumstance of an asymmetric $B$ -meson factory running on the $Υ (4 S)$ resonance, and show that both the weak and strong phases are experimentally determinable even in the presence of unknown final-state interactions.
