Abstract

Single crystals of KSbO3-type rhenium oxides, La4Re6O $19, P b 6 R e 6 O 19, S r 2 R e 3 O 9 an d B i 3 R e 3 O 11, w er esy n t h es i z e d b y ah y d r o t h er ma l m e t h o d . T h e i r cr y s t a l s t r u c t u r esc anb er e g a r d e d a s an e tw or k o f t h r ee - d im e n s i o na l or t h o g o na l - d im er l a tt i ceo f e d g e - s ha r e d R e O 6 oc t ah e d r a . A l l o f t h e m e x hibi t s ma l l ma g ni t u d eo f P a u l i p a r ama g n e t i s m, in d i c a t in g m e t a l l i ce l ec t r o ni cs t a t es w i t h o u t s t r o n g e l ec t r o n cor r e l a t i o n s . T h er es i s t i v i t y o f t h eser h e na t es, e x ce ptB i 3 R e 3 O 11, ha v e a t e m p er a t u r e d e p e n d e n ceo f$ rho(T)=ρ_{0}+AT^{n}(n \approx 1.6)$ in a wide temperature range between 5 K and 300 K, which is extraordinary for three-dimensional metals without strong electron correlations. The resistivity of Bi3Re3O11 shows an anomaly around at 50 K, where the magnetic susceptibility also detects a deviation from ordinary Pauli paramagnetism.
