Three-orbifolds, positive scalar curvature and fundamental group

Abstract

We show that closed Riemannian 3-orbifolds with positive scalar curvature have virtually free fundamental group. We also build a family of closed 3-orbifolds with free fundamental group of rank 2 which do not admit Riemannian metrics of positive scalar curvature.
