Abstract
Let be the theory of the valued field of complex Laurent series in the language of rings expanded by a constant for and by predicates for -th powers. We introduce a -adic analogue of Kochen's operator, namely , and the associated Kochen ring of a field extension of a model of . Our main result characterizes the field extensions of which embed into a model of (the formally -adic} fields): is formally -adic if and only if . As an application we prove a Nullstellensatz for : a polynomial vanishes on the zero set of an ideal if and only if for some , generators of and coefficients in the ring . We derive the resulting correspondence between -ideals and algebraic sets, and we compare natural incarnations of the associated -spectrum: prime ideals, morphisms into models of , and the space of types of .
