Abstract
The effective field theory of large-scale structure (EFTofLSS) program for spectroscopic galaxy surveys has been remarkably successful for cosmological inference from the galaxy power spectrum and bispectrum. However, a full-shape cosmological analysis including the galaxy trispectrum has not yet been performed. In this work, we develop the tree-level EFTofLSS model of the galaxy trispectrum, including all relevant ingredients: galaxy bias, stochasticity, infrared resummation, Fingers-of-God (FoG) counterterms, Alcock-Paczynski distortions, binning effects, and covariance. We validate the model by performing cosmological inference using the one-loop galaxy power spectrum, tree-level bispectrum, and tree-level trispectrum measured from dark-matter halos in 25 AbacusSummit -body simulations, whose large effective volume () allows us to test the precision of our model and determine scale cuts in both real-space and redshift-space. We also study the cosmological information content of the galaxy trispectrum in a DESI-like volume, finding that its inclusion can improve constraints e.g., on by up to . We further find that the maximum scale cut can be extended to depending on the tracer, thanks to our improved treatment of FoG effects. This provides a path towards using the three-dimensional large-scale structure to constrain new-physics scenarios with distinctive signatures in the trispectrum, in particular primordial non-Gaussianity.
