Abstract
Let be a graph. Under an \emph{injective edge coloring} of , any two edges at distance or belonging to a common triangle receive distinct colors. The \emph{injective chromatic index} of , denoted by , is the smallest integer such that admits an injective edge coloring with colors. Let be the maximum degree of . Ferdjallah et al.~proved that . In this paper, we improve this bound by proving that if .
