How far are -dimensional copulas with uniform -marginals from (total) independence?

Abstract
We consider the family of all -dimensional copulas whose -dimensional marginals are all equal to the -dimensional product copula and tackle the natural question, `how far away' from the -dimensional product copula elements in can be. We provide definitive answers for both, the uniform metric as well as the stronger, conditioning-based metric . The established results clearly indicate that the family is larger than one might expect.
