Abstract
Let denote the cylinder of length , and base where is an open ellipsoid with semi-axes . Let denote its torsion function. Heat equation tools are used to show that (i) if is has small eccentricity and is sufficiently large, then the maxima of are located at the centres and respectively, (ii) if has large eccentricity and is sufficiently large, then the maxima are located on the lateral side of the cylinder.
