Charged-lepton identification at Belle~II

arXiv:2606.26274

Abstract

Effective particle identification capabilities are a strategic priority for the physics program of the Belle~II experiment. We describe the algorithms used at Belle~II for identifying electrons and muons and separating them from charged hadrons. We present the performance obtained by the experiment during Run 1, which consists of 428 fb of data collected at the energy-asymmetric collider SuperKEKB between 2019 and 2022 at center-of-mass energies near the mass of the .
