Note on the Maximum Number of Trees Displayed by a Tree-Child Network
arXiv:2606.14464
Abstract
In this note, we show that, for all , the number of distinct rooted binary phylogenetic -trees displayed by a binary tree-child network on with leaves is at most and that this upper bound is sharp. Furthermore, if displays exactly such trees, then exactly one rooted binary phylogenetic -tree is displayed twice, and this tree can be canonically found by iteratively replacing a reticulated cherry with a cherry.
