Rapid Decay Subalgebras of C${}^{\ast }$-Algebras

Abstract

We introduce a general scheme of constructing smooth subalgebras of C${}^{\ast }$-algebras that are closed under the smooth calculus of self-adjoint elements. We illustrate the scheme with a number of examples.
