Abstract
A quaternionic matrix-valued regular function is a map whose entries are (left) regular functions of a quaternion variable, where is a domain in . Given any matrix-valued regular function over having norm at most , we derive a decomposition of in the form for some constant unitary matrices , some vector and an matrix-valued regular function , where denotes the star product over . We use this to deduce that any matrix-valued regular function having norm at most can be uniformly approximated by a convex combination of rational unitary functions.
